Morpheus is the Best Fancy Dress Costume for a Party

posted on 16 October 2011

I would dress up as Morpheus from the Matrix. He always wore pants, a button down shirt and a tie along with a nice leather jacket - one of the best fancy dress costumes one could wear! He also wore sunglasses. I'm bald as it is and I have a very tan skin so I could get away with it and look very similar to the character. The whole outfit would look fantastic on me. I always get compliments for how I look in a suit. People at this party would be saying all night how I look a lot like Morpheus. In the film Morpheus was a very strong leader. I feel I can definitely portray his carachter throughout the night. I might even be able to pull off some his moves because of my athleticism. I can do a back flip off the wall so people would be even more inclined to think I did such a great job of pulling Morpheus off.

My Swallow Necklace Is My Favourite Fashion Item

posted on 14 October 2011

As I was opening my Christmas presents last year I came across the most thoughtful present my Dad had ever bought me. It was the necklace I had seen in a jewellery shop a few months back whilst out shopping with him. While a lot of my friends are into girls designer clothing, I love jewellery. I knew it wasn’t expensive because I had seen it and gone into the shop to ask about it, I wanted to buy so badly but had been very short of money and knew I couldn’t afford it so I left the shop without it. I loved it the moment I saw it, it’s a simple design of the outline of a swallow bird in a silver material. My dad had obviously remembered and gone back for it. I was so touched I had to stop myself from crying. I love swallows and they remind me of some good times I shard with someone who was very important to me. I wear the necklace with almost everything, it’s on a chain that attaches to both sides of the swallow and it always sits nicely on my neck. It’s a lovely piece that I always get compliments on it wherever I go and it looks good with everything I wear.

Why Lace Is My Favourite Material

posted on 4 October 2011

Lace is my favourite material to work with. I just love the history of garment making that it evokes. It's a forgiving fabric for the tailor, and I love the sheen it gives to any colour. My clients all love lace even if they don't know it! I see their eyes drawn to this material automatically, and they often touch the material as if their hands are dictating their own movements themselves. By far, it's my most popular material for making dresses - whether it's explicitly asked for, or whether it just suits a particular lady, or whether a design calls for lace to be used - the material is my most relied-upon in my day to day work. I do like other materials of course and I will use the most appropriate materials for any given job - but if I was to do my own choosing, I would always choose lace.

Favourite Handbags: the Ponder Bag

posted on 2 October 2011

My favourite ever handbag was a tapestry covered bag, that could be worn on the shoulder or carried in the hand - it's as small as an evening bag. On both the front and the back of the handbag there were pictures of flowers on the tapestry, which looked old fashioned and very pretty. The bag was fairly big and I could fit all manner of rubbish in it, as well as really usefull things like tissues, chewing gum and cigarette papers. Something I really liked to do was wander round the living room, staring at the walls, with the bag on my shoulder, while I was pondering and considering what to do next, if anything! This led to my housemates referring to it as The Ponder Bag. I think it was the best handbag I've ever had, and has been a catalyst for many wonderful ideas that spring into my head as I ponder around the room!

Doc Martens, a Perfect Pair of Shoes for Life

posted on 28 August 2011

I live in Canada and I walk a lot, so I’m always looking for sturdy shoes that will resist to humidity, such as rain and a little bit of snow. Going shoes-shopping is never easy. I inspect the soles to make sure they are not slippery, check the materials and of course the price. Recently, I found the perfect pair of shoes: a pair of red eight-eyelet Doc Martens boots. The British brand is famous in Europe and proved to be perfect for my Canadian lifestyle. These shoes are made of leather and are extremely resistant. Their air-cushioned sole is comfortable for people who walk a lot like me. In the winter, I make sure I wear thick socks and my feet feel comfy. Above all, they are quite fashionable: I can wear them with just about anything, from jeans to skirts! Doc Martens shoes come in many colors, I’m considering buying another pair in purple this time.

Pearl Necklaces

posted on 15 April 2011

There are several different types of pearl necklaces available for women to choose from and all of them are intended to compliment her overall look. A pearl collar is just one example of these elegant necklaces. This pearl necklace is typically 12 to 13 inches long and it usually fits snugly on the middle of the woman’s neck. Most generally, a pearl collar is made up of three or more strands of pearls. The princess necklace is another type that is popular today among many women. These types of pearl necklaces are usually around 17 to 19 inches long, and they are sure to compliment any outfit. Longer necklaces include the opera necklace, which is about 26 to 36 inches long and the pearl rope, which is typically 37 inches or longer. Pearl necklaces are timeless and they are always in style. And the best thing about them is that they compliment a wide array of clothing styles.

Crazy Wedding Theme at Local Disco

posted on 16 January 2011

I got dressed up as if I was getting married - wedding dress, wedding shoes, bouquet of flowers, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. But I wasn't getting married - I was going to a wedding theme disco at my local night club. You were only allowed in if you were in full wedding attire, and with a partner. It was a weird and wonderful night - we must have had 200 or so people there - 100 brides and grooms - many of whom were already married, some getting married, and I think some who may have even been on a first date! I don't think I've ever laughed so much in my life as on that night. If you can imagine dozens of brides on the dance floor, some falling over, you might get the picture. Getting ready to go out took 2 hours but it was worth it.

Why Did It Take Me So Long To Get Into Jewellery?

posted on 30 December 2010

I'll admit that despite being a girl, I've never really been into "girlie" fashion or jewellery. I typically wear jeans and a t-shirt and rarely wear makeup. I've just never been into it. And yet, just in the last few months, I've found myself gravitating mysteriously to jewellery shops - as if guided by some external force - and I find myself leaving it having purchased two or three items. I recently bought a lime green bracelet and absolutely adore it. What's happening to me? I feel both excited and worried - worried that I'll end up spending a fortune on jewellery, but excited because.....because I now love jewellery - how can I explain it? Perhaps it's a phase I'm going through. I didn't mention to you that this all started when I was dating my latest boyfriend - that I'm sure is what's driving this - I'm sure of it.
